Renesas

 

Intro

Renesas, a B2B electronics company specialising in microcontrollers, wanted a Facebook app to increase engagement and to gain more fans. (This was when fan-gating was still allowed.)

 

Challenge

The client did not have a high budget and a short turnaround time meant that we did not have the luxury of a long development process. Also, the fans of their Facebook page were predominantly engineers and techies.

 

Solution

We created a simple story about good robots fighting evil ones, in which the good robots would need to unlock powerups to defeat the evil ones. The powerups were locked by “knowledge locks” – i.e. you had to answer electronics questions to proceed.

 

Having a small budget didn’t mean that the visuals had to look bad. I created line-based, futuristic-looking drawings that complemented the scenario. I also drew the comic panels that were used in the intro and ending.
